Hendricks County operates two correctional facilities serving distinct populations However, the Hendricks County Jail is the main facility. Spanning across 160,000-square-foot, it houses over 570 persons, which makes it the largest detention facility in the county. It also serves as the primary detention center for adult males and females.

The facility houses a Special Response Team (SRT), a transport unit, and operates a central command center, classification housing, and medical services. The jail is staffed by 57 jail deputies.

Commissary at the Hendricks County Jail is issued twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Inmates place orders on Mondays and Wednesdays before 4:00 p.m. If an inmate is released or transferred before commissary is issued, the funds are credited back to the account.

Inmates use commissary funds to purchase hygiene items, snacks, stationery, and other permitted products.
